Promotional giveaways - a waste of money?

A few tips

With marketing budgets still tight you may be looking for areas to trim costs. Often, promotional giveaways like pens, coffee mugs, umbrellas, etc. are the first to go. Think carefully before you do away with these items all together, because a well-thought promotional gift helps to concrete your brand and show your appreciation for your customers.

Here are some simple tips:

1. Find a good promotional items vendor. A good vendor will research the client base you're targeting and do the work to find you several options to choose from.

2. Tailor your giveaway items to your audience. For large trade shows you'll have to choose a generic item but for larger, more profitable clients, purchase a higher quality items that speaks to their industry or the product you're selling.

3. Don't be obnoxious with the size or placement of your company's logo and information. Be conservative. You don't want your clients to feel like a walking billboard.

4. Use your giveaways. If you go on a customer visit don't go empty handed! It's a great way to kick a meeting off.
