Thanksgiving
As you head into the Thanksgiving weekend, take a moment to remember the heart and history of this tradition. Thanksgiving was created to celebrate the autumn harvest and in doing so, brought together two very different groups of people. It is a classic holiday that involves pure celebration through food and a total absence of gifts: something we need more often. As Channing Pollock pointed out:
"It is good that we should set aside a day in each year for Thanksgiving, but it would be better if we gave thanks every day. For the absence of thankfulness does not mean that we are merely ungrateful - it means we are missing the thrill of appreciation and pleasure."
So appreciate and enjoy this holiday and hopefully with that pleasure, you
will be able to continue the feeling far longer than one day.
