At the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland in January 2010, a debate on the meaning  of sustainability and how to measure it was held. Although the examples cited in an article by the New York Times are rather remote from the daily concerns of design professionals in the construction industry, the debate itself illustrates that there is a lack of consensus when it comes to defining sustainability.
