Design Firms - Issuing Certificates of Insurance

So that you may respond quickly as possible to your customers, we have authorized you to issue ACORD certificates on our behalf. For your convenience, our guidelines for issuing these certificates are as follows:

1. All certificates of insurance that you issue on our behalf should be sent to Schinnerer.

2. Certificates must show the ACORD trademark. The professional liability coverage should be listed in the "Other" section of the form. Property and Casualty coverages written through CNA should appear in the appropriate section, for example, General Liability. Issuance of non-ACORD or other non-standard certificates without our approval will be the responsibility of the issuing producer, not CNA or Victor O. Schinnerer.

3. The disclaimer language at the top right-hand corner of the ACORD certificate cannot be deleted or modified.

4. Your name and address should be indicated in the section entitled "Producer."

5. The policy prefix must be included in the policy number.

6. The limit of liability should be shown as "per claim/annual aggregate."

7. The maximum number of days notice of cancellation for certificate holders is up to thirty (30) days for the professional liability policy and up to ninety (90) days for P&C coverages. Note that premium is earned for the notice period in the event the policy is cancelled.

8. Additional insureds cannot be added to the professional liability policy under any circumstances, but may be added as respects the P&C coverages.

9. The certificate holder's complete name and address must appear on the certificate.

10. The words "endeavor to" may be struck or deleted as respects both the professional and P&C coverages.

11. For professional liability policies having a Specific Additional Limits of Liability Endorsement (SALE), the project name and dedicated limit of liability on the endorsement should be referenced in the "description" section of the ACORD certificate. Projects not having dedicated limits of liability should not be referenced on the certificate.

Thank you for following the above guidelines. Should you have special circumstances regarding issuance of a certificate, please do not hesitate to contact your underwriter, and we will work with you to resolve it.
