The Five Core Principles of Smart Risk Management
Core Principle No. 5: Fairness
By Robert M. Graham, Esq., CIO, The AGOS Group, LLC

This article explains how fairness affects the workplace. Fairness begins with respect and dignity for all employees. Managers need to understand and value the importance of all employees, regardless of their race, creed, color or job description.

Managers need to keep the following items in mind when dealing with employees that have reported wrongdoing in the workplace:

  • Always remember the accused should be considered innocent until a thorough investigation is conducted.
  • Uniformly and consistently apply rules, regulations and procedures to all employees.
  • Make objective decisions.
  • Eliminate any unfair management practices.

This article contains a scenario to which Core Principle No. 5 can be applied and an explanation of how to address it. To read the article, go to www.agosnet.com.
