Claims Scenario
A non-professional criminal group, assisted by a former employee, plotted to kidnap a high-profile US executive in the United States. The victim followed a consistent daily routine and did not utilize any security services offered to him by his company. The kidnappers were able to track his movements easily and eventually abducted him at a local restaurant.
When first abducted, the victim resisted. The kidnappers beat him severely and placed him in an underground chamber. A ransom demand was made and negotiations followed, including the kidnappers' agreement to provide the executive's location upon receipt of the ransom. However, after the ransom was paid, the kidnappers left without informing the police as to his whereabouts. They were eventually apprehended by local officials and were compelled to reveal the missing executive's whereabouts. He was found alive and returned safely to his family. (Source: Control Risks)
