What is the Environmental Program?
The environmental program is designed to meet the unique needs of consultants,
engineers and contractors that serve the environmental marketplace and/or have exposures
to environmental risks.
What makes CNA/Schinnerer's Environmental Program different?
We have put all our attention toward the needs of environmental contractors and consultants. Combining this with our 40 years of professional liability insurance, we at CNA/Schinnerer we are able to provide unique services and solutions to the risks faced by consultants, engineers and contractors. We also offer risk management and claims services to make the program work for you.
How can I get a quote?
We do all of our business through independent agents and brokers. To get a quote, complete our application and send it to your broker. If you do not have one, you can use our Broker Locator to find one in your area. Once your broker forwards us the application, we provide a quote in 2-3 days.
What types of firms are insured in the program?
Our insureds are as diverse as the environmental issues they face. Our current clients
include firms performing remediation services, Phase I & II and other environmental
studies, wildlife population studies, wetland delineation, oceanography surveys, air
pollution services, Lab testing, permitting, Underground Storage tanks, noise pollution
and many other services. See a list of professionals/services we insure.
Do I have to be a large firm to qualify for the program?
No. Our clients include some of the largest environmental firms, as well as start-ups
and one- or two-person firms. Whether you're a small firm employing only a few people or a larger firm with many employees, you will have access to our innovative coverage and useful risk management information.
Does Schinnerer's professional liability policy form include general liability coverage?
No. Schinnerer's form contains errors & omissions coverage and pollution incident coverage. We do offer general liability coverage to most of our environmental clients on a case by case basis. Many of our insureds/applicants can obtain general liability and other lines of P&C coverage through our Design One program. Smaller clients are written on a Business Owners' Policy while larger, more complex firms are written on the Tailored Commercial Package Policy.
What is Contractors Pollution Liability (CPL) Coverage?
CPL provides coverage for pollution incidents arising out of your firms
activities or the activities of an entity for which you are legally liable.
Does my firm need CPL coverage if my firm performs only design or consulting services
and is not present on a site?
If your firm is legally responsible for another firm's activities, such as a
subcontractor, you may want to consider the protection provided by CPL coverage.
For questions on other coverages, such as EPLI and P&C coverages, please see our Design Firms FAQ.
